Lumi, your AI security analyst
A named AI persona that explains findings, suggests next steps, and answers why-does-this-matter questions without sending you to a search engine.

What it is
Lumi is Umbra’s AI security analyst persona: the friendly, clear voice that explains a finding in plain language. Lumi greets you on the dashboard, ranks your top issues, and answers follow-up questions from inside the finding drawer.
What it produces
- Lumi greeting: a personalised welcome on the dashboard with a one-line read on the state of your workspace.
- ”Ranked by Lumi” tagline on the executive dashboard’s top-10 priority list: the model’s severity × age × overdue × confirmed-exploitable ranking.
- Ask Lumi: a per-finding chat surface inside the finding drawer. Ask “why is this severity?”, “what’s the fix?”, “is this exploitable from the internet?” Lumi answers with full finding context (impact, evidence, PoC, related CVEs).
What to use it for
- Onboarding a non-security teammate: “click Ask Lumi” is faster than five tabs of MITRE documentation.
- Quick triage: “Lumi, is this overdue because we forgot or because it’s a real blocker?”
- Pre-meeting prep: ask Lumi to summarise the top three risks before a stakeholder review.
Why it matters
Security tools written by security people read like they were written by security people. The Lumi persona translates the same data into “fix this because X, here’s how” prose: the adoption signal for non-security buyers, and the time-saver even for senior analysts who don’t want to re-explain a CVE for the fourth time this week.
Why it’s valuable
- Same engine, friendlier surface. Lumi is an Anthropic Claude tool-use loop with access to the finding’s full context: impact, evidence, PoC, related CVEs, asset metadata.
- Charged through the same ai_ledger. Per-question cost is visible on the admin finance page; budget caps apply.
- No second login. Lives inline in the dashboard, not a chatbot sidebar.
How to use it
- Sign in. The Lumi greeting appears at the top of the findings page.
- Open any finding drawer. The Ask Lumi tab is available beside the technical details.
- Type a question. Full finding context is automatically attached, so “why?” gets a real answer instead of a generic one.
